There is no shortage of candidates in the Republican field. As of last week polling indicated Biden “leading” Trump by 48% to 44%, a mere four points.
Now after the indictment and arrest, Trump leads Biden by 2.4 points. The document handling case seems to have bolstered support for Donald J. Trump in the 2024 Presidential race. According to Fivethirtyeight.com, Joe Biden also has a disapproval rating of 54.4%
Trump, in true form, posted the following comment after self-surrendering in Miami:
“REALLY BIG FUNDRAISING, EVEN GREATER POLLS, SINCE THE RADICAL LEFT INDICTMENT HOAX WAS INITIATED BY THE MISFITS, MUTANTS, MARXISTS, & COMMUNISTS! THANK YOU !!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump’s lead has also widened since the indictment over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. This bolstering effect has been seen after each impeachment, the FBI raid on his home, and now the document scandal arrest.
According to polling averaging from FiveThirtyEight as of June 17, 2023, Trump has garnered 53.5% support in the Republican race, with Ron DeSantis in second at 21%. Republican voters are firmly behind Donald J. Trump, who is crushing his opposition.
Joseph R. Biden is also facing major corruption allegations, which may be the reason Donald Trump is surging. Biden is being accused of allegedly receiving millions of dollars in bribe money for political favors, as well as mishandling documents while he was a Senator and Vice President.
The House Oversight Committee stated they obtained an FBI 1023 document showing Biden himself as well as his son Hunter were allegedly paid $5 million each by Burisma to stop a corruption investigation into the family. Biden refutes all claims against him uncovered by House Representatives and eloquently calls them “malarkey.”
Nearly half of all those polled believe that Trump’s indictment is politically motivated in light of the approaching 2024 election. Time will certainly tell where guilt resides as more facts are uncovered in both instances.
