Texan Republicans Stand Up to Federal Government

Date:

by Samuel Adams

The old adage says quite clearly, “ Don’t mess with Texas!” Texans have a rebellious reputation of doing what they consider to be in the best interest of their state despite Federal government push-back.

The most recent stand comes from fifteen United States Representatives that say Biden must secure the border or they will cease new funding for the federal government at the end of this fiscal year, which is just around the corner on September 30,2023. A second condition for them to approve new funding is the government’s cessation of its lawsuit against Texas. The third and final condition states that DHS head Mayorkas must be fired or have his salary withdrawn.

The delegation, led by U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, signed a letter to fellow members of Congress. It states, “Dear Colleague, The State of Texas is bearing the brunt of a national crisis at our southern border directly resulting from the unlawful and irresponsible actions of President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas. Criminal cartels maintain operational control of the border. Migrants are dying on Texas ranches and along the Rio Grande. … ranchers are threatened, and high-speed chases are tearing through small towns. … dangerous fentanyl is pouring into our communities via an open border… killing 200 Americans a day.”

Consequently, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, had to use Texas taxpayer-funded resources to what the Federal government has failed to accomplish in order to protect the sovereignty of the United States. Texas has spent over 10 billion.

When funding for the federal government expires, Congress will attempt to pass a continuing resolution or full-year appropriations to fund it. The representatives from Texas will vote against it if the State of Texas receives no relief prior to the vote.

“We must use the power of the purse to force President Biden to end the carnage resulting from open borders,” the group stated. They also stated that DHS has failed their purpose on the southern border.

Florida’s Attorney General Ashley Moody has also asked Congress to impeach Mayorkas or strip his salary. Mayorkas has says the border is secure and he will not resign.

The fifteen signers of the letter include Reps. Brian Babin, Wesley Hunt, Keith Self, Randy Weber, Beth Van Duyne, Nathaniel Moran, Michael Burgess, Michael Cloud, Lance Gooden, Troy Nehls, Pete Sessions, Ronny Jackson, Pat Fallon and Morgan Luttrell.

Governor Abbott shows no signs of shying away from a legal fight with the Biden regime over barriers Texas placed in the Rio Grande River to hinder illegals from crossing into their sovereign state. Millions of people have crossed the border and that number includes alleged criminals and terrorists from across the globe. Texas is not known for backing down. We will keep you posted on new developments regarding this standoff.
